GEOFLEX, VEDECOM Tech, YoGoKo and SYSNAV announce the first worldwide end to end centimeter localization service dedicated to the automotive and mobility services industries

GEOFLEX, VEDECOM Tech, YoGoKo and SYSNAV are teaming up to develop and to offer a new global real-time centimetric localization service end to end service for the user, with the support of the RENAULT Group and the Group PSA.

This new scalable centimeter positioning service, offered by VEDECOM PPS1, is dedicated to the automotive world in the broad sense (cars, industrial vehicles, trucks, buses, shuttles …) with the aim of reinforcing critical mobility applications, and make easily accessible to all the centimeter dimension spatio-temporal with precision, integrity and continuity of operation to create new disruptive mobility
services.

This technological and service breakthrough, based on the hybridization of the PPP3 and the augmented GNSS2 technologies developed by the CNES4 and GEOFLEX, brings a new dimension of localization and perception that has never reached, with high availability, all over the world, from end-to-end, in real time and with extreme precision up to a few centimeters.

This synthesis of technologies, operated by VEDECOM Tech, is based on the knowledge of CNES and GEOFLEX in the fields of PPP and PPP-RTK5, on the high availability of YoGoKo’s secure communications, and on navigation technologies in extreme environments of SYSNAV. This technological hybridization will significantly improve the new modes of autonomous vehicles and driving of connected vehicles with ADAS6, as well as user safety.

The VEDECOM PPS alliance thus formed, will have as main mission to propose this new technology to the automotive industry as well as the new mobility
operators, and to operate the new “centimeter augmented navigation” services for the benefit of all the users.

The world’s first PPP precision augmentation, integrity and GNSS continuity services offered by GEOFLEX have been open since January the 1st of 2018.

About GEOFLEX

GEOFLEX is the operator of new Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) augmentation services based on PPP-CNES technology, enabling it to be located at 4 cm (2D-95%) around the world, on land, at sea and in the sky, all the time, with a single receiver, without any permanent GNSS station nearby.
The activity was created in 2012 with the preliminary objective of testing in operational conditions the PPP-CNES technology, by creating the first compatible receiver, to become the technical and sales operator of the newly PPP technology.
Eighteen months after the signing of exclusive and global agreements for the industrialization and commercialization of PPP-CNES technology, GEOFLEX has opened on the 1st of January 2018 a first level of operational services allowing to position itself around the world with a single receiver and a precision (2D-95%)
of up to 4 cm with 30 minutes of convergence for PPP-IAR (Precise Point Positioning with Integer Ambiguities Resolution).
GEOFLEX is to date the only agnostic operator broadcasting its corrections in an interoperable format (RTCM3).
These corrections may, optionally, for the customers integrating very high added value services be accompanied by a BOX of GNSS augmentation services. This equipment is also available as a hardware and software development kits and to allow customer reduced Time to Market and to maintain their focus on their production systems.

About VEDECOM Tech

VEDECOM Tech was created in March 2017 as a VEDECOM engineering affiliate in charge of the development and the industrialization of innovative technologies for new mobility programs, from prototyping life proof of concept to real operational experimentation on open road and the implementation of new industrial sectors. It is a hub of
innovation and collaborative engineering built from the ecosystem of the VEDECOM Institute.
VEDECOM, which was created in February 2014, is a Research Institute for Energy Transition (ITE), developed as part of the French Government’s Investments for the Future Program (PIA). VEDECOM is organized as a collaborative and pre-competitive research hub, bringing together more than 50 members such as world-wild manufacturers, research laboratories and communities.
The VEDECOM Institute and VEDECOM Tech are dedicated to sustainable, safe, efficient and affordable terrestrial mobilities.

About YoGoKo

YoGoKo provides communication solutions for the connected & cooperative vehicle. Established in 2014 after 10 years’ worth of R&D, YoGoKo developed Y-SMART, a unified software platform combining hybrid communication technologies (ITS-G5, DSRC, Wi-Fi, cellular 3/4/5G, LoRA, 802.15.4, satellite,…) as needed to provide extended & secure connectivity. Y-SMART allows vehicles to exchange data directly with their surrounding environment (vehicles, roadside infrastructure, urban infrastructure …) while offering performant connectivity to the cloud.
The Y-SMART platform manages communications, data, and services. It avoids the development of solutions in non-interoperable silos and facilitates the deployment of innovative services. It allows, amongst others, the transmission of information related to road safety and traffic efficiency, data collection and processing, fleet tracking and management, remote diagnosis, software over-the-air updates, Internet access and other added- value applications and services.
Y-SMART is integrated into various hardware platforms fitting to the appropriate deployment environments.
YoGoKo solutions are currently deployed in V2X pilot deployments (e.g. SCOOP@F) and in connected autonomous vehicle programs (VEDECOM, ALTRAN, AutoCITS …).

About SYSNAV

Issued from the Defense labs, SYSNAV is a fast-growing French SME that designs and develops innovative navigation systems, geo localization and motion capture solutions without GPS signal and without infrastructure, for critical or even extreme environments.
Its solutions are based on a new generation of “magneto-inertial” geolocation technology, widely awarded nationally and internationally, as a substitute for or supplement to GPS.
SYSNAV markets dedicate solutions for different industries where localization information is strategic, and offers its customers high value-added technology advice via Le Lab SYSNAV to integrate them.
These solutions are now targeting the sectors of security and defense, medical, airport and nuclear.
